MONTANA SCOUTING TRIP WITH EBERLESTOCK PACK

Postby Hognuts on Wed 29 Jul, 2009 3:46 am

THE PACK PERFORMED BEAUTIFULLY, IT WILL DEFINITELY PACK MORE GEAR THAN YOU CARE TO CARRY IN THE STEEP MONTANA TERRAIN. THE AREA WAS AMAZING, BUT I AM GOING TO BE HUNTING IN A LITTLE LESS "REMOTE" AREA. I THINK YOU WOULD HAVE TO BRING IN A FORK AND EAT THE ELK IN THERE, CAUSE THERE IS NO WAY YOU COULD GET IT OUT WITHOUT HORSES. ENJOY THE PICS.

Yeah, definately a beautiful area.

If I own guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Oh yeah i was on EBERLESTOCKS site earilier today and saw they have the skycrane II now looks like more molle attachments and some other things. Didn't think they could improve it anymore but guess so.

I'll stick with my skycrane i don't even think i have enough camping gear to fill the pack it's so big.

Yeah, I heard that, my pack weighed in at 52 lbs at the airport with my tent, sleeping bag, and camping gear and it was definitely a load packing up and down the mountains up there. And that was with a fishing pole in the scabard rather than the big bad BARRETT!

Yeah but i bet you could fit alot more than 52 pounds in the pack thwe question would be are you willing to hump the weight .

Guess that depends on if its good weight and on what your planning on doing when you get there. Have you figured out how your going to get the meat out if bag the big one yet? :cheer:

we are going to hunt in a different area, after scouting that unit, it presents way more obstacles than I am interested in, especially if there is an early snow storm. We are going to hunt by Dillon, which is a lot more accessible than the area in the pictures.
