Do any of you use a primer pocket uniformer for case prep?
I have this one from Sinclair, Sinclair BMG uniformer
It works great with my Forster DBT base and the Sinclair adapter.
I have a bunch of Igman brass that I purchased from Wideners last year and I am just now getting around to loading them. The primer pocket depth on my samples measure from 0.209" to 0.212"
After uniforming with the Sinclair uniformer the primer pockets all measure a consistent 0.215" in depth the entire circumference.
I also measured a sample of the CC1 35 primers that I have and the primers have the anvil protruding out past the edge of the primer cup spaced 180 degrees apart. The height measurement including the anvil is 0.225"
The height measurement of just the cup is 0.217"
So my question is this: Does the anvil push back into the primer cup when seating so that the cup contacts the case or do you stop when the anvil contacts? Is this critical?
Hornady sells a primer depth seating tool, with a nice dial indicator and the Hornady web-site states/references seating until the anvil just touches.
