Here is something I did for my Army EOD unit's M107s... I have since done the same for my own M107 and a friend's M82A1. This is the BEST solution for preventing damage to the receiver finish when you are at the range or transporting the weapon.

Good idea. On my 82,all i did was put on a ladder rail cover on the top rail right behind the carry handle. I also put a small one right in front of the rear sight so that the sight actually lays on the ladder cover instead of the top rail itself.(no metal to metal contact)
