I have a Barrett M99 and have had issues with it igniting primers from surplus military ammo. Today I had numerous FTFs with the Singapore .50 M33 ammo that AIM Surplus was selling last fall. I have also had issues with the primed WCC brass. I don't know if my firing pin doesn't protrude far enough, if my firing pin spring is not strong enough, or a combination of both. My handloads have always fired 100%, so I think it's an issue of the firing mechanism not having enough oomph to ignite the primers on military ammo.
Thoughts?

More than likely its the ammo not your weapon,I had simular problm
with some french surplus crap I bought.I would stick with your own loads or new factory loads.

I just picked up some of the french ammo from the last gun show have not had a chance to get out with it yet hopefully it will fire ok i just wanted it for plinking ammo.

Called tech support today and ended up ordering their new firing pin assembly. My older M99 has a cone shaped firing pin, where the newer firing pins are more of a rounded design. The spring is also stronger and between the two new parts all my woes with the hard primers should be solved.

My 99 is 3 years old,I will have to find out if I would need a upgrade on the fireing

Checked with Barrett today,My series ser.# does not require the fireing pin upgrade.
