SWFA's new 5-20x50HD scope as good as Nightforce?

SWFA.com is saying their new 5-20x50 mil-dot FFP scope has glass and mechanicc equal to the Nightforce yet only sells for $1500. Does anyone here know or have experience with this new scope?

I was doing research for a cheap starter scope for my 50 and read through numerous google searches that SWFA scopes are made in Japan I think by Japan Optics Co. They're custom built to specs for SWFA.

Everything I've read also said SWFA bought out the brand from the 2nd owner, Tasco, that had degraded the quality of the scopes. SWFA since re-spec'd the scopes and moved them to a better manufacturer, said to be one the best, in Japan.

If you google, you will probably see all the same info I fond.

I plan to try out a fixed 20 power SWFA SS.

I have a SWFA fixed 20X 42mm and find it to be great with matching mil/mil reticle and turrets. Great optics-clear and bright. Works great but focus requires turning ring in front of objective lens. Solidly built and should hold up well to 50 cal abuse. Lifetime warranty that is transferable and CS great. Wallet friendly at about $300. Nothing to lose at that price. More funds for ammo !!!

I had a 20x swfa, very clear and seemed sturdy but found it not to track very good maybe it was an older model

These new SWFA SS scopes are a lot nicer than the older versions.



They now have a Mil-Quad Reticle and matching .10 mil adjustments on the turrets.

I'll put it to you like this. I'm so pleased with how nice this little $299 scope is, that I've decided to keep it on the rifle and use the over $2k I was going to spend on a scope to build a tack driving MEGA MATEN 308 AR10. I already have the receiver ordered and it'll be 4 months before it hits the local gun shop. I'm researching barrels now and I think I'm going with Krieger with a JP brake.

Awesome! Got a scope and enough left over to build a nice 308!

SWFA definitely gives you the best "bang for the buck" in the scope market. Many improvements and options in the low end scope market these days !!! Good shooting.
