I'm apparently now a target of Chicago police

Hi everyone,
I grabbed 82A1, sorry if I beat out someone who had it. Was formerly ericjbeasley.
Went ahead and reposted the M82A1 for Newbees 101 posts, and will keep that up as I find things that might be cool for those of us just starting with the big rig. If anyone doesn't think it's a good idea let me know.

Also, yesterday I found that Chicago Police apparently target pro-2nd amendment types like me, since I was ticketed for the alleged violation of "Park/Stand Prohibited Anytime", which is difficult to fathom when I was parked in a legitimate, normal parking spot in the daily parking at the Midway Airport Garage. Apparently they didn't like my bumper stickers and Barrett baseball cap on the dash. The picture is my parked car as it stood, purportedly where it should not have--though they happily charged me $50 for legal parking...



So now I know what it's like to have been Thomas Paine, or any of our revolutionary forefathers, in the time of our nations birth.

@ $60.00 for the ticket, I'm not sure it's not targeted harassment. For a "mistake" its pretty blatant that the car is legally parked.

I guess it's safe to say we are under attack and need to be wary of what we do, how we act, and definitely take the moral high ground, stay legal to the maximum extent, and deny our harassers the benefit of an easy target.

That is bull crap they singled you out and did this uncosnstatutional act of liberalism. I'm with shadow on the service of your car and if shadow already did it i would at least have to leave you a thank you and i like your calvin sticker on gun controll i have wanted one of those but couldn't find it any where.

Let's see what my letter to the City Of Chicago Dept. of Revenue results. I hope they like the Certified Return Receipt, Signature Required letter they get. I love the USPS being able to help document this stuff.

For the cost of the ticket, I'm not sure this is worth the challenge. Sure, there's principal; but how much is your time worth? And are you willing to accept the additional damages if you lose?

Remember: You're in their court. Many officer's spend one day a week in the courthouse (one day a month at a minimum) and the judges deal with them often. They have established professional relationships. According to the law, they do have to prove that you are guilty of a violation; but commonly, a police officer's word against a civilian's word is enough "proof" for a judge. Then it would be on you to prove that your photo was taken at the time of the ticket. (Does it have a date/time stamp? Does it show the ticket undisturbed?) I think you'd have a hard time winning this one.

I worked with an officer some years ago that targeted vehicles with such stickers... He felt that civilians should leave their defense up to law enforcement. And that only the police should have guns... He was an OFFICIUOS T**D... Fortunately he finally ticketed the wrong truck... It belonged to one of our court clerks... She took it to her judge... Now for the Kicker... She was parked at the courthouse. In her spot. She had to use her husbands truck that day... She had placed her parking pass on the dash, as it's supposed to be... But the T**D didn't think to look for it... The judge had a few words for the T**D... That very weekend in another county, the T**D was arrested for solicitation for prostitution... I never had to work with him again ... hehehehe!... I wonder if he moved to Chicago?????.... Darrell
